I mentioned last night that the report was light because some boats left late and wouldn’t be returning until late last night, well it ended up being worth the wait.
Captain Rob Skillman and mate Steve Moore on the Moore Bills were one of the late boats and they had an awesome trip! Moore Bills reports “it was a great way to end a 3 day charter with the Don Pyle group!!! Left the dock today in search of the mighty bigeyes around 1pm. Started white marlin fishing with no luck. Started seeing slicks popping up so we switched over to our main goal. 2 rods in and had a 57lb yellowfin in the box. Trolled for a long time without any other bites then right before dark we hooked 2 bigeye in the whales. Catching 1 106lb out of the pair and breaking the other off on a whale. Set the spread back out and Capt.Rob said get ready I’m marking em and there goes the left long rigger…..19minutes later we had a 224lb bigeye on the deck. Great afternoon on the water!”
Captain Luke Blume on the White Lightning out of Sunset Marina had a great day as well. Captain Luke and mate John Griffith put their crew on two white marlin releases and 12 nice gaffer mahi.
I got a great submission from Captain Monty Hawkins on the Morning Star out of The Ocean City Fishing Center today. Captain Monty writes, “The boys from York waylaid ’em yesterday (Wednesday). Among several limits, Terry Burgess, rt. was high hook. The fish were caught on caramelized banana peel, spread on strips of banana w/banana GULP!
