It was a little breezy this morning, and a little chilly to be honest, but it turned out to be a very, very nice day. The ocean going boats had to contend with a little chop this morning, but it was worth it for the tuna and bottom fishing going on.
I got a great report through Facebook today with the below photo of Julien Holter who caught a doormat flounder last night fishing from the Route 50 bridge. Julien was using a Deadly Tackle Deadly Double in orange with a Gulp and live minnow when this 27″, 7 pound, 6 ounce jumbo jumped on the line. Congrats on the biggest flounder we’ve seen so far from the bay this summer!
We’re finally starting to see some yellowfin tuna being caught a reasonable distance from OC Inlet the past couple of days. Captain Dale Lisi of Foolish Pleasures found these nice yellowfins in 500 fathoms of the Poorman’s Canyon today.
Congratulations to the crew of Boss Hogg out of Sunset Marina – Thanks for the pic!- for catching and releasing the first white marlin of the season for an Ocean City Marlin Club member. Boss Hogg will win $5000 from the OCMC for their catch.
Capain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had a couple of good trips in the back bay today with several nice keeper flounder caught on live bait.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported a rough start today, but a nice afternoon that ended with plenty of sea bass and a bunch of keeper flounder.
Captain Will Poole of Local Hooker Fishing Charters had a nice day over ocean structure boxing five keeper flounder and throwing back a crazy amount.
Anglers fishing on board the Miss Kathleen out of Bahia Marina had a nice day at sea with a mixed bag of sea bass, flounder and some triggerfish. Young Gator caught his first flounder ever.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had another good fishing day out there today
