Mother Nature loosened her grip a little today and we had an absolutely beautiful fall day with little wind to speak of. Ocean boats were able to get back out to do some bottom fishing and there were plenty of boats fishing the back bays. Tomorrow and Saturday look very good as well so get out and enjoy it while you can.
I was able to get out for a solo session today and I decided to try some “dredging” at the route 50 bridge. I got the inside scoop from Big Bird Cropper on the tide and it worked out perfectly for me. I fished the outgoing tide with a pink Mann Stretch 25 and dredged up this nice 35.5″ rockfish that weighed 14 pounds, 11 ounces. I’ve caught larger stripers in the OC Inlet and on Assateague Island, but this was my biggest striper ever from the route 50 bridge!
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break was at the route 50 bridge for a bit and he reported good fishing on today’s trips with flounder and lots of tautog.
Big Bird Cropper had Shaun and Mike out yesterday and dredged up some rockfish of their own at 50.
Captain Nick Sampson of Mobsquad Fishing was glad to get back out on the ocean today and so were his anglers. The crew went on a meat run and found mahi, blueline tilefish, some big black belly rosefish and more.
