It was an absolutely picture perfect beautiful day today and a terrific start to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Anglers were out in full force today both inshore and offshore and not only was the weather good, the fishing was too.
Captain Jeremy Blunt of the Wrecker had a fantastic day fishing for tunas offshore today. Captain Jeremy and mate Bobby Layton put their crew on all the bluefin tuna they wanted and had them so thick at one point that Bobby was able to land one on a spinning combo. The crew of Wrecker ended the day with their three under bluefin and several other bluefin released.
My good buddy Kevin Rohe of Mills Creek Builders and Kitchen Fancy was out in the deep today as well and had a good day with the crew of the Get Reel. Kevin, Brian Arni, Colin Campbell and Tim Romberger boxed two under bluefin, two yellowfin tuna and two mahi, and also released several other bluefin on a great trip to the canyon.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler put his anglers on some nice sea bass including this big knot head while fishing over ocean structure.
Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had an evening trip last night that produced some good fishing. Larry, Nick and Nick Sr. from upstate NY had a good time releasing 40-50 small rockfish and shad sometimes two at a time.
Big Bird Cropper was at it again in the bay today putting some guys on some throwback rockfish action. Andrew Tawes of Outdoors Delmarva released his first striper of the season and Bird and Dennis released over 30 rock on the outgoing tide this morning.
The Kramer boys from the Lead Pot did some flounder fishing yesterday and had three nice keeper fish on Gulp and minnows from the Lewes Canal.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing has had a busy couple of days on the water lately. Captain Marc is having great luck putting his shooters on some nice southern and cow nosed ray action in the bay both day and night. Captain Marc is back on the river tonight and I’ll let you know how he does there tomorrow.
Doug Crawford from Pocomoke, MD released a 40″ red drum and boxed a nice 20″ speckled trout while fishing with Josh Twilley and Mike Fisher near Bloodsworth Island.
Here are the rules for the Ocean City Marlin Club’s Memorial Day Tournament for those of you that are fishing. I’ll be bringing you updates this weekend.
