Bluefin Tuna Retention Limit Reverts to 1 Fish Per Vessel Per Day / Trip Starting January 1, 2025

NOAA Fisheries finally announced that bluefin tuna retention limits for recreational anglers will revert to one (1) fish per vessel per day/trip starting on January 1, 2025.  The giant bluefin season for fish over 73″ will also reopen on this date.  This means that all recreational anglers, including charters will be allowed to harvest just one fish between 27″ and 73″ after the first of the year.  Here is a shot of the notice to permit holders from NOAA.

Captain Dale Lisi of Foolish Pleasures started practicing for the one fish retention limit change today by putting one “over” fish between 47″ and 73″ on the scale at Bahia Marina today.  Foolish Pleasures also released three other “over” fish on today’s trip.

Captain Chase Eberle and his crew aboard Chasin Tides Charters found this very nice 68” bluefin on todays trip.
