Boss Hogg’s 80 Pound White Marlin is Currently Worth Over $2.3 Million After Day 2 of the 2026 MidAtlantic Tournament

It was a crazy busy day of scales action at both the Canyon Club Resort and Marina in Cape May, NJ and Sunset Marina in Ocean City, MD for day 2 of the MidAtlantic Tournament.  191 boats headed east this morning and we knew it was going to be a busy day when we heard of a blue marlin being boated just before 10 AM.  More news came in throughout the day and by the time scales opened up we knew of several fish that were probably going to land on the leaderboard.  After scales closed at 9 PM we had just the wahoo category left with no qualifiers and we had a couple of fish worth millions of dollars.  Here’s who’s leading The MidAtlantic after two days of fishing.  Thank you to The MidAtlantic and Sunset Marina for the pics!

Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had two nice trips today with keeper flounder for each of his crews.

Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures had to weed through a bunch of sea bass to find some keepers, but he managed a few and some nice triggerfish for his crew.

Anglers fishing with Captain Will Poole of Local Hooker Fishing Charters had some fun with keeper sheepshead and keeper flounder today.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported steady action on two trips today with plenty of keeper sea bass and flounder for his anglers.

Captain Kane Bounds and his crews on the Fish Bound have been mugging the flounder over the past several weeks with limits on most every trip.  8 hour trips are producing limits up to 54 keepers and afternoon trips are producing plenty of sea bass and triggerfish.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star was on a targeted mahi trip today and had luck for his anglers

Wasn’t expecting an August fog; but, just a few miles off, there it was. Running lights after sunup, fog horn every 2 minutes, radar/plotter overlay scaled down to 1.5 NM; pretty standard fog drill. I saw a horizon as we approached today’s block drop. Last year we had a pool winner come off that small collection of reef blocks; they don’t have to be especially numerous to work.
Declan & Braysin were at the ready when I called ‘Standby…Mark!’ Sixteen jumbo blocks lashed with small manila rope went by the aft rail to join the reef. Probably squished some sea bass too if the fish weren’t looking up.
Then onward..
Got the skunk out of the box on the first drop & not much else. Pick a single, goose egg, a pair; finally had a flurry of activity 6 or 7 stops in – not mahi mayhem, mind you, but an OK shot of em.
Kept working on a pick all day it seemed, mix of better fish too.
Much better.
Worked.
Cheers,
Monty
