It was a busy Saturday for fishing in Ocean City, MD for sure!!
The Ocean City Marlin Club’s Memorial Day Tournament saw it’s first day of scales action with only one of the 21 boats that have entered fishing. The Magic Moment was able to box one 42.6 lb yellowfin to enter a contender for the tournament. It is currently in first place. Sunday the other 20 boats will be fishing, and with good shark and tuna action, the scales at Sunset Marina could be exciting!
The offshore action is still hot in the Baltimore canyon! Boats had great luck on ballyhoo and spreader bars in 64 degree water once again today.
The Wrecker with Captain Jeremy Blunt out of the Ocean City Fishing Center released four undersize yellowfin tuna and boxed 8 others on their first trip of the season.
The Spring Mix II out of The Ocean City Fishing Center released two short yellowfin tuna and went 5 for 8 on the rest with a great group of anglers from Pennsylvania.
Inshore the sea bass bite is getting better with keeper size fish with some ling cod mixed in. The Judith M out of Bahia Marina had some great keeper action and this nice cod as a fish pool winner.
In the bay, the flounder bite continues to be smoking!! Captain John Prather on the Ocean City Guide Service has been catching keepers on a regular basis, and today was no different. The flounder are being caught on live minnows and Gulp baits around the Rt 50 bridge and the south jetty.
