I live on the eastern shore for a bunch of reasons, but at the very top of the list is my love for the outdoors. Not many places in the world can you watch the sunrise over the ocean in the morning, shoot a goose and a duck, handpick an oyster and catch a rockfish all in the same day. That’s exactly what my buddy Austin Ensor pulled off today. He took advantage of a lot of the reasons that we live where we live, and why they call the eastern shore “God’s Country”.
Myself and Josh Martin shot a limit of geese this morning, picked about 30 oysters off the rocks then ate some lunch. Packed the boat up and headed out to the bay, found the bait and landed a 30″ rockfish and a few other shorts. Then we set up to sea duck hunt and killed three with a lot of missing. We packed up and ran home at 4 PM. Headed to the deep tomorrow at 4 AM looking for the long fins.
Nick Denny had a good night with the rockfish on the route 50 bridge tonight. Nick used a 4″ glow in the dark swimming mullet on a 1/4 oz jig head to catch and release 16 rockfish. The biggest fish was 26 1/2″ and all were released.
