It was another windy day today across the DelMarVa today! It was strong out of the west for the majority of the day, which meant it was straight in our faces as we filmed a new episode of Hooked on OC from the Oceanic Pier this morning….and once again the bluefish didn’t seem to care one bit.
Bluefish was on the target list for Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service today as well. Captain John put three year old Emma Matarese on one of the biggest blues that I’ve seen this year. The adorable junior angler wrestled in this 40″, 15.8 pound bluefish that was longer than she is. Emma is pictured with her dad Anthony.
Our trip to the Oceanic Pier this morning started at 9:00 AM, but a helpful tip from JJ Tozzi had us leaving for a little while and returning when the tide slowed down at 10:30. JJ was right on the money with his advice too because just before we returned to shoot the big blues started to bite like crazy. We were only there for about an hour and a half and we had more than enough content for the show! Anglers were using finger mullet, cut mullet and cut bunker and having great luck with big fish as the tide slowed to the end of the outgoing. JJ says the bite has been just as good at the beginning of the incoming tide as well. We met some great folks and it should make for another great episode of Hooked on OC. Many thanks to my boy Dave Messick of Hooked on OC and Unscene Productions for the great shots!
