It was chilly and overcast for most of today, but it was fishable if you didn’t mind bundling up. That’s about to change once again as a front pushes through tonight into tomorrow with strong winds and substantial rain that could bring the area more than an inch. The weather for the weekend just might be doable so if you’re looking to go bottom dropping or tuna fishing you may be able to give it a go.
One guy that you’ll see on the water when conditions are fishable is my man Big Bird Cropper. Bird was out on the bay today doing some Roy Rigging in the chilly temps and was rewarded with some action. Bird and Dave took a four hour trip where they found 55 degree water and 14 short rockfish.

Captain Victor Bunting of the Ocean Princess has been having luck on recent trips. Captain Victor ran a 12 hour trip the other day where Aaron and AJ Sanders caught a near limit of sea bass and Sam Wanis and Veronica Quinonez had 28 keeper sea bass themselves. The Ocean Princess will be running another 12 hour trip on November 30 so check them out if you’re interested. FishinOC.com/partyboats

Bob Haltmeir has sent me some more pics of keeper tautog that are being caught from the Oceanic Pier. This is a great sign as more and more tog should be showing up as the water temperatures in the back bay cool down even more.
