I can remember my first impression of Harborside Bar & Grill in West Ocean City, MD. I was in college at Salisbury University & a friend said, “Let’s go to the old ‘Stumblin Inn.’ “ According to my friend it used to be an old biker bar so we hopped on our motorcycles & headed ‘down the beach’ not sure what exactly to expect. I had a black, Suzuki Marauder 800 & I remember pulling into the parking lot thinking it looked like the perfect place… a place where you could show up in jeans & a t-shirt, get a cold drink, shoot a game of pool & eat some good food. The Harborside didn’t disappoint, & no one even made fun of me for not driving a Harley!
Fast forward to 2016… motherhood happened & the motorcycle is gone… for now anyway. Scott, Ryan & I usually hit Harborside via boat after we’ve finished fishing or while waiting for the tide to as Scott likes to say ‘get good.’ Harborside is in the commercial harbor & is easy to access by boat. They have around 18 slips, and it’s one of the most convenient restaurants to get into and out of by boat.
Let me get to the good stuff… their delicious food. I definitely have my favorite which I’ll get to in a minute. Scott was there filming cooking segments for his TV show “Hooked On OC” & brought home a smorgasbord. Dave Messick, videographer/photographer extraordinaire of “Unscene Productions” was kind enough to take some pics of the food while they were filming.
Harborside has amazing offseason specials including half price entrees starting at 5 p.m. on Sundays & Mondays which leads me to my favorite dish… the Harborside Seafood Pasta. It consists of a giant plate full of linguine pasta noodles in a creamy, buttery, garlic sauce topped with generous servings of lump crab, shrimp, scallops & mussels. It includes garlic bread to dip into the sauce which takes this over the top. You can get this dish for half price on a Sunday or Monday for a bargain! We joke that Harborside is losing money on this plate, because Scott says it has sixty dollars worth of seafood in it. Try it. We highly recommend it! (Please note there is a $3.00 surcharge for steak or crab entrees, but that’s still a steal.)
The Tuesday offseason dinner special is Prime Rib night which includes 10 oz prime rib with two sides for $15.99. Delicious & filling for the carnivore in your family.
Wednesday is burger and chicken breast all day $5 served with fries. Their burgers are one of my lunch favorites.
Thursday is all you can eat ribs and shrimp includes fries, cole slaw & corn bread for $16.99. Tender pork ribs slathered in bbq sauce & steamed shrimp seasoned in Old Bay. Yum!
Friday is fried oysters & soft crab day. A huge soft crab dipped in a wet batter & fried to perfection with some crispy, hot oysters.
Harborside is a fun, quirky locals favorite with great food & drinks. Stop in for an Orange Crush & stay for the delicious food. Check out their MENU & WEBSITE for more information including happy hour food & drink specials. Pull up by boat, motorcycle or car… just get there fast.
