Day and Night

Day and Night

It sounds like the remnants of hurricane Nate are forecast to move in our direction over the next couple of days and bring us a little wind and some rain chances so it’s a good thing that we had such good weather for fishermen this weekend.  Fishing is good too with several different species being caught both during the day and at night.

Yesterday Jeremy Hudson and his buddy Robbie fished over ocean structure with cut bunker and caught and released this beautiful 45″ red drum.

I got this photo from David Moore who was fishing by himself on Assateague Island the other night when he caught this big old 50″ red drum and released it.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters has been having some great luck fishing the Ocean City inlet lately.  Captain Jason has had several good trips putting customers on sheepshead, tautog, red drum and black drum with fish as big as 10 pounds.

Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing got in on the inlet action today with his fiance’ Karen.  Captain Jeff landed this awesome black drum with a live sand flea while #thinkingofyou on the south jetty.

Things down at the Oceanic Pier have been heating up as we get into the fall and Bear has been keeping me abreast of the situation.  Steve caught a 25″ sheepshead from the north sea wall today that weighed an even 13 pounds, and Jordan from Camden, DE caught a 27″ red drum and a keeper sheepshead on live sand fleas.

Greg Weddle from Elkton, MD took the fish pool on board the Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe and mate Serge Garder with his 2 lb. 4 oz. flounder, but only because Vivienne Uzamere from Bowie, MD did not enter.  However she does currently hold 3rd place in Tortuga’s season-long Derby with her 20 1/2″, 3 lb. 9 oz. flounder.

Joe Jordan and the crew from the Redemption had a great day in the Washington Canyon this weekend when they put 15 mahi in the box and watched a white marlin eating small mahi, but couldn’t get him to eat.

We’re less than a week away from the first ever Ocean City Inshore Classic.  Sign ups are this Friday at Sunset Grille from 5 PM til 7 PM, and I don’t want to jinx us, but the weather looks awesome.  Click the link for tournament info…..Ocean City Inshore Classic.
