After a pretty miserable day yesterday, we had calmer seas and no precipitation today so anglers were able to get out on the local party boats and boats fished another day of their five for the Ocean City Marlin Club’s 4th Annual Rockfish Tournament. There were no fish weighed today and I don’t think too many were caught. There are still a good number of fish north of the Indian River inlet and off the coast of New Jersey, but none of the 11 boats fishing the tournament today found anything to hit the scale. The forecast is pretty crappy for the next couple of days so we’ll have to wait and see if anything changes on the leaderboard by Sunday. The standings are still the same after 6 days of fishing.
Rockfish
Bad Oyster
33.0 Pounds 45.0″ length 23.5″ girth

Fish Frenzi
25.4 pounds 37.5″ length 23.0″ girth

Nontypical
22.4 pounds 36.0″ length 22.0″ girth

Bluefish
Bad Oyster
11.8 pounds

Captain Chris Mizurak on board the Angler reported in saying they had some good fishing today. They did head for the barn early because of strengthening wind and building seas, but were able to put a couple of limits of sea bass in the boat before that. There were also some nice bluefish caught on board and Ken Yuen jigged up a beautiful December doormat of a flounder that weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces. That’s a big flounder any time of year and a really nice surprise in December. All of the fish were caught on jigs.
