It was a cold one today, but with lightish winds in the forecast it was a good day to get to the ocean and put some tautog on deck.
Captain Kane Bounds of the Fish Bound has been taking advantage of some recent weather windows and his anglers have seen some good fishing. Captain Kane has had very nice keeper sized fish with some big double digit fish up to 14 pounds that are being released.
Captain DJ Churchill of Double Trouble has been getting out some on calmer days and his folks are seeing some good fishing as well. Captain DJ has seen fish up to 12 pounds on his most recent trips.
Anglers fishing on the Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins had some good fishing today despite the weatherman being off the mark a tad.
Wind what? Under 10 knots all day?
Nice. Let’s Go toggin! Oh.. Oh really? Weatherman didn’t really mean it? Don’t say… Wasn’t too far off. A bit more than 10 – shade under 15 NNE much of the morning. With NE wind, however, those 5 knots make a big difference. Had a confused sea comprised of swells from every direction between NNW & E too. Not nice. Almost pulled the safety valve on it several times – headed for home. Seemed to be falling off; would pick up again. Before lunch the wind piped down more; seas less boisterous. Rode it out. Casper and Bill each sent a half stack of blocks by the stern rail (too rough for a full unit.) Tog bit. For a while at least. Anchors up and down all day. Nicked a few most everywhere, a nice shot at day’s end – a last minute pool winner even when Casper used his reef builder’s karma to best effect with a 24 inch bull he boxed. Pretty good – but not epic toggin. Others too, but Frank especially, put back some truly nice keepers. The fishery lives on because of it. Going to add a few days to my schedule in a fish report soon. I think! Dagone forecast is bouncing around like a pinball with hot flippers.. Cheers, MontyNew vid up on our YouTube….subscribe!!
