I’m really not digging the fact that I’ve had three fishing reports since the first of the year, but I guess you get what you get. The weather has been tough so far this winter and fishing interests have been modest at best. There is light at the end of the tunnel with some warm temperatures in our future and this weekend’s Ocean City Boat Show will help the time pass by a little more quickly.
I’ll be at the boat show this weekend distributing the 2018 Fish in OC magazine and selling Hooked on OC tee shirts with producer Dave Messick. We are upstairs in booth 443 and we’ll have short sleeve shirts for $15 or three for $40 and long sleeve shirts for $20 or three for $50. We’ve got a cool new design from Red Sun Custom Apparel so stop by and say hi!!
I was happy to get a report today from Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star who took an “experimental trip.” Captain Monty slipped offshore a good bit and tried for flounder and on the first drift, on the very first drop, Nick Denny pulled a really nice fish over the rail. Captain Monty knew that they were in for a good day…..uh…..not. They did manage some sea bass that were released and some dogfish, and I’ll admit I’m jealous as at least they were able to bend a rod. Captain Monty will be trying again here in the near future, but his next trip will be targeting tautog. You can find out how to get on board when Monty announces the next trip on his website…..MorningStarFishing.
