Fish in OC

Fish in OC

Just like the past few years it looks as if we are going to go straight from winter into summer.  Today was REALLY warm.  There was a little breeze that blew up this afternoon, but it was sunny and just too nice for some to stay on land.  I traveled over the route 50 bridge into Ocean City today to do some video for this weekend’s Springfest and the water looked super clean.  So clean that I may have to give flounder fishing a try myself tomorrow after the report that I got from Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service proving that there are plenty of flounder in OC.

Captain John had two trips today where he trolled Gulp baits in the Thorofare and had a decent pick of throwback flounder and some nice keepers up to 22″.  Captain John also had a trip to the inlet where he said it was “all the shad and stipers you want.”  Captain John has Ocean City Guide Service available this weekend so if you want to try some flounder give him a buzz.  You can check him and the rest of the inshore fleet out at FishinOC.com/inshore-charters.

Congratulations to Bob, Collam & Griffin from Silver Spring, MD on catching your 1st Chesapeake Bay Spring Trophy Stripers today. The trio caught the big fish onboard the MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos and mate Mark Stephens fishing out of Solomons, MD. The three fish measured 47″-49″.

There is a great event coming up in a few weeks up in Delaware.  Here’s info on the Joe Morris Flounder Tournament compliments of my buddy Eric Burnley.

The Joe Morris Memorial Canal Flounder Tournament will be held on Friday May18 from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  The entry fee is $40 half of which will go to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.  In addition to this money, all proceeds from the sale of Tournament Tee Shirts will go to the charity.
J. D. Bucktails has donated many of their lures to the tournament and the sale of these will go entirely to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.  I have seen these lures and they are more than worth the small price.  I plan to purchase several.
At this time Amanda does not know exactly what type of prizes will be available for those who purchase a raffle ticket, but this will be firmed up soon. Several local business have promised to supply raffle prizes, but some have not yet arrived.  Funds from the raffle will also go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Last year the tournament raised $19,650.  This year the goal will be $25,000.
You can register for the tournament at Lewes Harbour Marina by 7:00 AM on May 18.
