First and foremost, Happy Easter to everyone! I hope you all had a great day celebrating this very holy time with your families and friends, and if you had a chance to get out and do some fishing….even better!
It was a beautiful Easter day today in Ocean City with very warm temperatures in the mid 80s and sunny skies. There was a breeze out of the southwest for most of the day, but it was tolerable and its ushering in the warmer air.
The Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City has been busy over the holiday weekend and things are really picking up. Bear sent me pics of the pier’s first bluefish, the first keeper flounder, several small rockfish and one nice keeper that fell to anglers over the past few days. John used a Zoom bait to catch this nice 31″ keeper from the pier.
Rob from Aberdeen, MD caught this big 33″ bluefish off of the pier with Bear’s “secret bait”.
The first flounder of the season for the pier was this 18″ keeper and the kids are having a great time with the throwback rockfish on spec rigs and small bucktails.
Captain Monty Hawkins on the party boat Morning Star has been having some pretty decent fishing when he’s out on the rip. First time togger Tiffany caught herself a nice tautog on her first trip and Sara with DNR Fisheries Statistics shows a nice 23″ female that they tagged and let go.
We had a really fun trip with Captain Monty earlier in the week for our current episode of Hooked on OC. We had a good time catching some tautog and I pulled a rookie move when I high sticked one of his rental rods and had to pay the piper. There’s also a great cooking segment with Chef Bobby Connor of Harborside Bar and Grill where he shows us the dealio with soft shell crab dishes. Check it out here…..
