It was hot and humid out there today, but the wind was pretty light for most of the day and the ocean was pretty much flat calm. I got out for a few hours this afternoon and drifted the East Channel where I had a bunch of throwback flounder and one keeper of around 19″. Flounder fishing in the back bay and in the ocean has been good the past few days and should continue as long as the water stays clean.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break had two good trips for his anglers today. This morning it was some nice croaker and two keeper flounder of 18.5″ and 21.5″, and this afternoon it was a pile of keeper flounder to as big as 23.5″.
Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures had a nice day of ocean fishing with some triggerfish and six keeper flounder.
The Miss Kathleen fishing out of Bahia Marina had a great trip to the Jackspot where anglers jigged up sea bass and some nice keeper flounder.
Captain Shawn Gibson of the Wound Tight saw some of the biggest sea bass he’s seen this year on today’s trip with a limit up to 18″ and a limit of blueline tilefish.
The crew of Boss Hogg with Captain Brian Porter followed up there nice Ocean City Tuna Tournament showing with a great day of yellowfin tuna fishing today.
Joe Marquart caught and released this 20″ striper at the Verrazano bridge this morning on the slack tide.
