Flounder Is On The Menu

Flounder Is On The Menu

It was a much nicer day today onshore as the storms from last night pushed off the beach and left us with less humidity and slightly cooler temperatures.  Unfortunately those same storms had is rough way off the beach so not too many charter boats headed there.

One boat that did give it a go today was the All In with Captain Scott Stapleford.  Captain Scott stuck a little closer to the beach and was back to the dock by noon, but he rewarded his crew with some mahi action and a really nice bluefin tuna of 62″ and 127 pounds.

Back bay fishing was pretty good today for anglers dropping Gulp baits and live minnows for flounder.  Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters found these flounder in the east channel that measured an impressive 22″ and 23″.

Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service loves to have kids on his boat and today he was lucky enough to have a couple of trips where he could teach some junior anglers the ropes.  Captain John had successful trips for sharks and flounder in the ocean and some keeper flounder in the bay.

The Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe at the helm has been having good luck with the flounder in the back bay on it’s it’s half day trips. Brian Weisgerber of Fairless Hills, PA and Jim Addis of Cleveland, OH had some nice fish. Both fish were 17 1/2″, but Jim’s was heavier at 2 lb. 1 oz.  They were caught in the Thorofare on shiner/minnow and squid with mates Matt Harris and Nathan McGinnis.  Second photo is of Vicky Nickens of Ocean Pines, MD with Dominic Koontz and Austin Steinhice from Pasadena, MD.

Kristen Johnston of Ocean City and Charles MacEwan of Ocean Pines got ahold of a couple of 17″ flounder for lunch today while fishing on the Less Bills.  The fish were caught on live bunker in the east channel.

Captain Thayer of Chasin’ Tides Charters made it out after the storms last night and was greeted with calm seas and good shark fishing.  The crew released three sand tiger sharks and four sandbar sharks.

If you read the Daily Anlge on a regular basis you know that Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing consistently puts his shooters on the meat, but today he put his shooters on the MEAT when they found this huge 94 pound southern stingray.
