I literally just walked in the door from my vacation in St. Lucia and I’m super tired and I smell so I’ll get right to the point…..fishing was good today!
Captain Kane Bounds and his crews on the Fish Bound have been doing some real damage to the flounder population over the past several trips. When Mother Nature allows it’s usually boat limits of nice flounder up to about 7 pounds.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported good fishing on today’s trip with some quality sea bass coming over the rail up to 4.5 pounds. There were also some bluefish, flounder and triggerfish in the mix.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had another fantastic day of sea bass fishing today with some limits of fish around the rail.
Dawn breaking time we got underway this morning. Ocean seemed alright first couple miles. Deteriorated thereafter.
A lot.
Cross heave mess of ENE swell & N short period wind waves – ugh.
Had forecasters not been adamant north winds would fall still further as morning came bright, I’d have surely hightailed it for home.
Not at all nice to start; sure came pretty.
Almost exactly the same for the fishing. First three stops? Oyyyy.. Looking dismal.
By and by it came around; one fellow even caught a double keeper on a jig.
Broke my streak. Had six boat limits in a row – today about a third of my clients limited.
Whit took the pool with a nice cbass & Greg was our guest reef builder..
See what Wednesday & Thursday bring..
Cheers,
Monty
Big Bird Cropper had a nice day throwing Roy Rigs in the OC inlet and at the route 50 bridge. Bird had a nice red drum, released a bunch of short rockfish and had a nice 30″ keeper on today’s solo trip.
