It was a nice Spring day today in and around Ocean City with temps in the upper 50s, sunny skies and lightish winds. It was a nice day to get on the water in a sweatshirt and get on some of this fishing that’s picking up every day.
I took the Carolina Skiff out for my first flounder trip of the season and it was a productive one. Two throwbacks at Deadly Doubles in the Thorofare and then I headed to Route 90 where I released a couple of short stripers on Thing A Ma Jigs. Fun afternoon!

While I was fishing I got a text from Captain Kane Bounds of the Fish Bound saying it was finally a nice day on the ocean today. Anglers on Fish Bound had a limit of nice tautog on today’s trip with the largest fish being released as large as 15 pounds.

Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had a nice day of tautog fishing on the ocean today as well with some big fish ending up in the net and some young anglers getting in on the action.

There were some keeper tautog caught in the back bay as well as Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters used his Deadly Tackle spinning rods to put these fish on the cleaning table.

Taylor Bakke of Always Bent Fishing found the first bluefish that I’ve seen this year behind Assateague Island when this “snapper” sized fish ate a swim shad.

14-Year-Old Jacob Hilyard is just getting into fishing and was excited to catch this skate while fishing on the Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City.
