Flounder, Rockfish, Tuna and The First Blue Marlin of The Season

Check out the Daily Catch at Sunset Marina!

We’ve got a little more northeast wind coming this weekend, but today it laid down enough for some boats to get out the tuna and sea bass, and for some to tough it out on the bay for some flounder and rockfish.  There are some folks looking at some money in the first ever Battle For the Buckle Fishing Tournament and one of them caught and released the first blue marlin of the season.

Captain Chris Little of the Talkin’ Trash was in the right place at the right time this morning when the first blue marlin of the season ate a bait out of his spread and was released after a short fight.  This is the first blue marlin release of the season in Ocean City, and I think Talkin’ Trash gets a couple of bucks from the Ocean City Marlin Club.  Speaking of getting a couple of bucks….Talkin’ Trash is also in the lead for heaviest fish in the brand new Battle For the Buckles Fishing Tournament sponsored by Pure Lure.  Talkin’ Trash’s 40 pound yellowfin is leading heaviest fish while Game ON is leading the heaviest stringer category.

Battle For the Buckle

1st Place Heaviest – Talkin’ Trash – 40 Lbs

1st Place Stringer – Game ON – 142.5 Lbs

The Ocean Princess was able to get out to the sea bass grounds today and even though they had to deal with some bumpy seas, they managed a nice catch of sea bass with some good fish in the mix.

Back in the bay the water was surprisingly clean after all the wind we’ve had the last eternity.  The Line Dancer crew had a good day in the Thorofare with the flounder when Karen Biesecker and Josh Rosenberger landed three keepers up to 17.5″.

Rich Daiker has been catching a bunch of stripers at the south jetty lately and he’s been lucky enough to have several land in our new 28″ to 31″ slot.  These two measured in at 30.5″ and 31″ and were real fat.

Hit the vid for my solo striper session at the OC inlet….Subscribe!
