I got an email from Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star today that was titled, “Fall Is In The Air” and although I don’t feel it quite so much, there are definitely signs that it’s not too far off. We certainly had a busy weekend with nice weather forecast and Jeep Week being in town, but with a lot of out of state kids heading back to school this week and MD kids heading back to school after Labor Day next week there is a going to be a real difference in the atmosphere around Ocean City in the coming weeks. I for one am all for it. We should have great weather through October and offshore marlin fishing is just heating up. Throw in the fact that the fall is the best time of year for inshore fishing and that makes it my favorite time of year.
Speaking of Captain Monty’s email….. Captain Monty reported a “fussy” bite today, but still had four guys limit out and several other anglers had two and three fish. Steve Scheiner of Lurherville, MD took top honors with a 24″ fluke. Also pictured are Todd Williams of Georgetown, DE – Richard Burger of Baltimore – & Anthony Miceli of Baltimore, MD.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler also reported a little slower bite today, but he also saw some nice flounder come over the rail and also some mahi for some lucky anglers.

Captain Brad McCabe put Jillian Donahue on some bluefish today aboard his Bay Time Adventures. Most of the fish were released, but they did keep a few for bait.

Offshore today the crew of Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Ayrton “The Kayak Kid” Pryor released two white marlin and Captain Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey put this crew on a blue marlin release and a white marlin release. Captain Joe reported backing down for several miles as they chased the blue on light tackle.

Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing was in the Ocean today aboard the Bad Influence where he had some fun rod bending action for false albacore.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had an insane day of shooting today when he put this group on some great action for cow nosed and souther rays in the south bay. The group also made a tough shot on a spiny blowfish.
