We had some really nice conditions for anyone that wanted to Fish in OC today. There were some showers in the area to contend with, but the wind was light and overall it was a nice day to be on the water. The offshore fleet is having a tough time of it lately with warm, blended water which is making it hard to dial in on any good bite. A few tuna here and a few white marlin there is about the norm right now, but it should improve as we move further into August.
The local party boat fleet has been seeing more flounder on the wrecks lately which is a really good sign. The sea bass bite is still pretty good too so having some more flounder for customers is just sweetening the pot. Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star is reporting some more flounder on the wrecks lately, but he’s also reported some nasty ocean water conditions. You can see Captain Monty’s full Fish Report here……Morning Star Fish Report
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler is reporting some more flounder on his bottom fishing trips as of late too. Today Captain Chris put his anglers on some keeper flounder, sea bass and even one king mackerel.
Bear down at the Oceanic Pier is reporting a lot of sea bass, snapper blues, shad and throwback flounder. Anglers are catching the occasional keeper flounder as well like this 19″er that was caught on one of the pier’s big minnows.
Justin Pry of the Ocean City Maryland Fishing Community had some good flounder fishing when he and crew put four nice keeper fish on the dock.
David Herbst caught this 18 1/2″ keeper flounder on a live minnow near the route 50 bridge this afternoon.
Jackie Maffei and Cody Isaac stuck two houndfish at the route 50 bridge Sunday evening on Cody’s first ever bow fishing trip.
