Get Back In A Rhythm

Get Back In A Rhythm

Man this weather has sucked!  I don’t like not having fishing reports and I’ve had one in the last week.  You can’t really have a fishing report when there’s no fishing going on though can you?!  One week ago today we were dealing with a stiff north east blow and rain that had everyone off of the water through Tuesday, Wednesday was the only day anglers were able to get out and we saw some good fishing, and then it was hurricane Florence.  Thankfully Florence didn’t mean much for our area, but there wasn’t a whole lot of fishing going on as some folks pulled their boats from the water and others decided to get chores done and wait for her to pass.  Keep our friends and neighbors to the south in your prayers as they deal with the effects of Florence and some of the devastation that she left in her wake.

Speaking of keeping things in your prayers, our good friend Bear from the Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City was in a pretty major motorcycle accident last week.   It wasn’t Bear’s fault and he suffered some pretty serious injuries from the accident.  Please keep him in your prayers and if you feel inclined you can donate to a GoFundMe set up to help him pay some bills while he’s laid up dealing with some more surgeries and what is sure to be a long recovery.  He’s pretty banged up, but currently doing well all things considered.  Here he is with our buddy Matt Shoup from Fenwick Tackle.

You can help Bear out here……   GoFundMe for Bear.

Now to the fishing report.  On another day that I thought I wouldn’t be typing out a report I was glad to get a text from Big Bird Cropper with a photo and report of some fishing.  Bird and Carl fished the fishbowl north of the route 50 bridge today and reported plenty of throwback flounder action, and Carl found this nice 29″ rockfish while casting Bird’s World Famous Roy Rig.

Kyoung Kim of the Ocean City Fishing Community reported that the weather today wasn’t the greatest either, but he was able to land a keeper sheepshead while fishing the rocks of the north jetty.  Really glad to see some guys got out today and caught some fish.  Hopefully now we can get back into a fishing rhythm.

Our 2nd Annual Ocean City Inshore Classic is less than a month away!! This is a 32 hour overnight inshore fishing tournament on October 13 and 14 with categories for rockfish, flounder, tautog and “open.”  Check out our page at FishinOC.com/inshoreclassic
