Good Fishing Before the Flood

Good Fishing Before the Flood

Well today started off nice enough, but this afternoon????  We saw some of the most wicked thunderstorms that Ocean City has seen in a long time!  Major flooding to the north had Coastal Highway shut down in stretches and flooding other places had folks stuck in buildings and others running for higher ground.  Thankfully there was some pretty good fishing in the bay again and the tuna fishing off the beach was crazy good for some boats again.

The crew aboard Talkin’ Trash with Captain Chris Little at the helm had a great day of tuna fishing offshore today.  Captain Chris had his crew go 12 yellowfin out of 13 bites and also added three “under” bluefins for good measure.

My buddy Austin “Opah” Ensor of the Primary Search had a fun day of tuna fishing in the Wilmington Canyon today.  The #gang of Captain Austin, Tommy Clark, Joey Battista, Will Stafford and mate James Dozerback went 11 for 11 on nice yellowfins.

The Stalker with Captain Steve Moore had a good day with the tunas today putting four yellowfin tuna and a beauty of a 95 pound bigeye in the boat.

The All In with Captain Scott Stapleford had to return in an absolute deluge this afternoon, but they were happy to do so since they had one bluefin and eight yellowfin tuna in the box.

Brian Brannan and Derek Crossley fished the Baltimore Canyon on board the Late Bite and put two bluefin tuna in the box.

Anglers on the Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Chris Evans duplicated yesterday’s catch with three “under” bluefin tuna in the box and several other fish released while fishing outside the Baltimore Canyon.

Last night Captain Chase Eberle ran one of his night time inshore shark fishing trips and had some pretty good luck.  Captain Chase put his anglers on good action releasing three sand tiger sharks as big as 8 feet in length.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported a decent sea bass bite on board today and a couple of keeper flounder that came over the rail.

Before the storms rolled in there was some clean water on the incoming tide and anglers had some decent luck putting some flounder in the cooler.  Michael Chan of Ocean City released several throwback flounder and boxed this 20″ keeper on live minnows in the east channel.

Captain Brad McCabe of Bay Time Charters put Bob and Scottie Kelly on some good floundering this morning including this 19 1/2″ keeper caught by Scottie.

This nice keeper flounder was caught by Josh Rosenberger of Gettysburg, PA on his boat the Jeffy Jr. while using a gulp and minnow combination.
