Thanks to the bummer weather forecast registration for the 9th Annual Ocean City Marlin Club Memorial Day Tournament only saw 9 boats enter and all of those boats fished today. Thankfully they were greeted by some good fishing and one of our Fish in OC charter partners ended up at the top of the leader board. Here are the final results. Thanks to Dave Messick of Hooked on OC for the shots!
Tuna Category
3rd Place Brenda Lou 40 Pounds
2nd Place Husevo 43.4 Pounds
1st Place Spring Mix II (Fish in OC Charter Partner) 43.6 Pounds
Spring Mix II also caught another bluefin, released one yellowfin and boxed on mahi. Angler Paul Lebling, Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Ayrton “The Kayak Kid” Pryor
Outside of the tournament offshore anglers found good tuna fishing again in the Poor Man’s Canyon with several mahi caught as well. The first bigeye tuna of the season was also caught offshore today by anglers on the Wrecker with Captain Jeremy Blunt. The first bigeye of the season weighed in at 90 pounds at the Ocean City Fishing Center.
Anglers fishing on board the MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos not only had a good day of fishing they had a quick day. The MARLI was back at the dock in time for lunch with a bluefin and three yellowfin tuna.
The Boss Hogg out of Sunset Marina with Captain Brian Porter had a good day of fishing offshore today as well. Remy Tshudy and Margie Berger joined Howard Berger and ended the day with two “under” bluefin tuna and four yellowfin tuna in the box.
It was “skies out, thighs out” for Will Castleberry of Coast Guard Station Ocean City today. Will submitted this photo of a nice 20″ flounder that he caught behind the station today on a 1/4 oz Spro bucktail with a Gulp swimming mullet. Thank you for the service Will!
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing has been pretty much non stop this weekend hitting the bay during the day and the river at night. Captain Marc has been having great luck too putting shooters on some awesome action for gar at night and southern and cow nose rays during the day.
