It was a beautiful weather day today both inshore and offshore. Warm temperatures, light winds and flat calms seas make for a nice day of fishing. The fleet was in the canyons today and there was another good white marlin bite in the Norfolk Canyon. There are still some fish being caught from the Wilmington Canyon down to the Norfolk so hopefully as the fish migrate south the weather cooperates and allows us to get out and take advantage of the good fishing.
The inshore fishing for flounder is really good right now as well. The local party boat fleet has been having great luck with flounder on ocean structure, but they will be heading out to the deeper water of the canyons for the winter before you know it. It’s really time to take advantage of nice fishing days when you can as the weather pattern changes and fall moves into the area.
Captain Chris Mizurak on the party boat Angler out of the Talbot Street Pier had a good day with the flounder today. Captain Chris reported good flounder fishing with the largest fish weighing four pounds.
The Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins was on the rip today and had some luck with the flounder and sea bass. Morning Star caught a couple of false albacore on the way out to the spot and then dropped on some ocean structure and caught sea bass, flounder and an angel shark. Nick Denny was along for the trip and took some great shots of the action.
The flounder fishing in the back bay is improving as the water cleans up and should be good for at least another month and a half. Bear at the Oceanic Pier submitted this photo of Doug from PA who caught this nice 23″, four pound flounder from the pier on the outgoing tide.
Captain Dave Black on My Cin out of Sunset Marina has taken advantage of the great white marlin bite in the canyons the past couple of days. Yesterday Captain Dave had Dylan and Chris Alaska, Billy Riggins and Zeb Zebley on board and put them on seven total white marlin releases. Captain Dave was out in the canyons again today and had five white marlin releases.
