Good Flounder Fishing

Good Flounder Fishing

I don’t like to use my own photos for the Feature Image in the Daily Angle, but I have to admit I had a pretty good day of fishing again.  It was chilly and windy, but the sun was shining and that made it warm enough to have an enjoyable couple of hours on the water.  After my limit of flounder the other day there were several boats in the Thorofare today and it looked like most everyone was having a good time.  I saw several other anglers catch flounder and I saw several nice flounder get tossed in coolers that I’m sure were over 16 1/2″.  It was nice to see folks out with their families and friends trying to catch some “sustenance” and I’m sure it helps keep their minds off of things that are going on right now.  I know it does for me.

The Deadly Double in chartreuse was once again the ticket for me today and although the water wasn’t as clean as it was the other day, the flounder were able to see that thing flashing no problem.  I fished the top of the high tide and the first part of the outgoing for about three hours and had another personal four fish limit of nice flounder.  Fish of 17 1/2″, 18″, 19 1/2″ and 21″ all fell for the Deadly Double baited with pink and white 4″ Gulp swimming mullet.  The fishing in shallow water should be decent for the next several weeks as long as the water is clean.  You can bet when conditions allow you will see me out there.

I passed Big Bird Cropper and Shawn on several drifts up in the Thorofare and got Bird’s pics just a bit ago.  The duo ended up with two nice keepers while flounder fishing and then had some fun catching rockfish at the route 50 bridge on Roy Rigs.

John Wooldridge and his son Grayson did some early morning fishing at the route 90 bridge where they found clean water and some rockfish action.

The Cowder family hit the Pocomoke River today for some freshwater fishing and had a great time.  Ethan was high hook with seven total fish, Erin had two fish and Sophie and Ryan Cowder each had one.  They used bloodworms and caught catfish and tasty white perch.
