After a busy weekend with the Ocean City Tuna Tournament several offshore boats stayed at the dock today to recover from two or more days of tournament fishing as they prepare for several tournaments in the coming weeks. Most didn’t miss much as the tuna bite slowed down a bit, but inshore ocean fishermen were treated to some pretty good fishing once again.
Captain Corey Kennington of the Boss Hogg was one of the boats that did venture offshore and though they didn’t have a killer day they did catch a yellowfin tuna that was a really nice fish.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported slow sea bass fishing as we can expect this time of year, but a pretty decent flounder bite with fish to 4 pounds. The inshore party and charter fleet will be targeting flounder on a more regular basis now and they should be having some pretty good luck moving forward.
Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters fished some ocean structure this morning and found some nice keeper flounder with Gulp baits. This afternoon he put a 10 year old junior angler on her first keeper flounder when an 18″er ate a Gulp bait in the east channel.
Chasin’ Tides Charters with Captain Chase Eberle was in the ocean this morning, but he was doing some inshore trolling. Captain Chase put Garret on three citation sized Spanish mackerel between 25″ and 27″ and 20 bluefish.
Captain Brad McCabe of Bay Time Charters fished the bay this afternoon and had some luck with the keeper flounder. Captain Brad fished with Dave Wilson, Santi Silaphone, Suen, Lisa and son Ethan Thammarat on Ethans first ever flounder trip.
Bear down at the Oceanic Pier saw a really nice flounder come into the shop when Johan from Westminster, MD caught this big 23″ keeper on a jighead with a Gulp.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing was on the meat again today as he put shooters on good action for some big southern rays.
