I just got home from dinner after a very busy Saturday that included fishing on board the Ocean Princess and then emceeing the D.U. Derby at Bahia Marina! Today was our Fish in OC fishing trip aboard the Ocean Princess with Captain Victor Bunting and mates Jeff and Matt and we had an absolutely awesome time. Everyone said they enjoyed themselves and we put over 25 keeper flounder and over 100 keeper sea bass in the boat with some very nice fish winning our split pool. The heaviest flounder and the heaviest sea bass split a $680 fish pool with $340 going to each. Congratulations to both of the winners. Many thanks to the crew of the Ocean Princess for an awesome trip! I did pretty well on the Ocean Princess today catching three keeper flounder from 18″ to 20.5″ and one throwback of 17.25″ on Deadly Tackle bucktail jigs. The YouTube of today’s trip will be out in a few days and the episode of Hooked on OC should be out sometime this summer.
Today was day 2 of the D.U. Derby and there wasn’t much action to speak of as anglers said back bay fishing was pretty slow for them. There is one day left to weigh some fish to see if the below leaders change at all. Good luck out there!
Offshore Division
Anchor Management 26.9 Lbs
Inshore Division
Lund 22 Lbs, 3 Oz
Walk on Water 17Lbs, 2 Oz
Lost Time 16 Lbs, 12 Oz
Away from the tournament, Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had a nice day in the ocean for his clients putting them on some nice sea bass and several keeper flounder to 8 pounds. They also released a large shark.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had a nice time with these guys putting them on three very nice keeper flounder.
Yesterday, anglers fishing on board Foolish Pleasures with Captain Dale Lisi had an awesome trip that resulted in this 72.5″ bluefin tuna.
