We have really been blessed with some pretty nice fishing weather the past couple of days. Yeah, we’ve had a little rain and some overcast skies, but there really hasn’t been much wind to speak of, combine that with temperatures in the 50s and you’ve got some down right comfortable tautog fishing. The weather looks decent again tomorrow before a low pressure system moves into the area and roughs things up for Sunday and beyond so if you’re going to try some of the good toggin’ thats going on…get on it tomorrow.
Captain Chris Mizurak from the party boat Angler had the little boat out today with Captain Dean Lo and they had some good fishing. Captain Chris said the bite was really good in the morning, but slacked off in the afternoon. The crew was still able to keep a limit of nice tautog including two fish over 1o pounds. They also released a female that was just shy of 11 pounds.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the party boat Morning Star was out yesterday and today and had good action as well. Today despite a “pain in the neck tide”, some anglers limited out with four fish. Below, Granpa Keefer, his grandson Marc, and Adam “The Lucky Horseshoe” Keller display some nice fish.
Captain Monty put some anglers on some nice tog yesterday as well. In the second photo, Smelts Murphy (yes, that’s his real name!) caught a nice tautog. The fish appeared to have possibly had a close call with a spear gun last summer (yellow circle).
