Hard To Believe Its October

Hard To Believe Its October

Thanks to this weather…..and this fishing, it is really hard to believe that its October out there.  We had another summer-like day today with temperatures in the mid 80s with sunny skies and nice light winds so anglers were out in full force taking advantage of it.  It would be awesome just to get out and fish in this kind of weather even if you don’t catch anything, but the fish are cooperating too.  Flounder and sheepshead are snapping in our inlet and back bays, sea bass, flounder and triggerfish are grubbing at the ocean wrecks and reefs and mahi are jumping in the boat offshore in the canyons.  It really has been an awesome start to the month!

Captain Mark Hoos of the MARLI was out in the deep again today and had a great day on the mahi.  Captain Mark bailed the fish today putting another limit of 10 fish per person in the boat.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler had a 10 hour trip on the ocean today and had a very successful day for his crew.  Captain Chris reported a limit of sea bass for most clients up to 4 pounds, some flounder and triggerfish and a 46″ red drum that was tagged and released.  The guys also plucked a big bundle of balloons out of the water even though Blume’s Balloon Round Up is in the books.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star reported another good day of fishing on what seemed like Ladies Day on board.  More than 1/2 of Captain Monty’s crew today was ladies and they had a great day with the fish.  Donna McGinty of Carlisle, PA had the pool winning sea bass and some triggers.  Others are Jeni Houser also of Carlisle, Pam Maus of Shippensburg, PA, & Debbie Harman of Hampstead, MD.

One of our 12-man ocean charter boats, the Ocean City Girl had a crazy good day of bottom fishing today.   The crew ended the day with an eight man limit of sea bass, seven flounder, 12 porgies and some bluefish.

Captain Howard Todd took Brandon Burton and Shawn Riley south of the Washington canyon today and caught over 20 mahi with four or five nice gaffers in the mix.

Danny Oliver was fishing with Big Bird Cropper today on the Lost Time and put a nice flounder in the boat.

Morgan Mericle was fishing from the route 50 bridge over the weekend when he landed this beauty of a 26″ black drum.

Congratulations to the top balloon rounder uppers in Blume’s Balloon Round Up and congratulations to Emily and Joshua Blume for coming up with such a great idea.  The kids had a total of 1,392 balloons captured which crushed their goal of 1,000 by September 30.  Here are the top 10 boats.
