The 25th Annual Captain Steve Harman’s Poor Girl’s Open is underway and someone is going to win a record payout. Like most tournaments this year, participation is high and the payout will be one for the record books. This year there are 149 boats in the Poor Girl’s and total payout is going to be over $200,000. Governor Larry Hogan stopped by Bahia Marina today where he presented Shawn and Donna Harman with a proclamation in honor of the 25th anniversary of the event.

55 boats decided to give it a go today and scales were busy with some nice catches. Here is the leaderboard after day 1.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star reported another good day of ocean flounder fishing today. Flounder George “the fluke slayer” Henning took top honors with a 22.5 incher. Ben Kronberg and crew had a great trip aboard the Chasin’ Tides Charters today with Captain Chase Eberle when they boxed seven keeper flounder, 21 triggerfish and one sea bass.
