Imagine the surprise that Larry Boo Powley experienced on his boat “Amy” this morning as he pulled his pound net and not only found a ton of bunker, but also found this gigantic bull shark. Boo was pulling his gear early this morning over on the Chesapeake when he came across the big bull and I don’t know the exact details, but this shark is an easy 300 pounds….maybe more. I got the photo from the Hooper’s Island General Store over in Church Creek, MD, you can check out their Facebook page here. Hooper’s Island General Store
Ocean bottom fishing for flounder is pretty good right now if you don’t mind putting in some work. Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star loves putting in the work and today he rewarded his crew with some nice flounder. Morning Star’s Pool winner today was Tieren Ebbitt of Denton, MD and pictured also are Jen Cosgrove also of Denton – Warren Kenny of Crapo, MD – William Green of St. Michaels & Kaitlin Duncan of Easton.
Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service had a couple of successful trips in the back bay today. Captain John took advantage of clean water on the incoming tide and put four keepers in the box this morning.
This afternoon Captain John was joined by the Hagy family and put them on some awesome croaker and kingfish action. The family kept two kingfish and 15 croakers for fish tacos and the kids did great. Cooper caught 17
Jackson caught 19, Peyton caught 15 fish, a spider crab, two blue crabs and two horseshoe crabs.
Joseph and Maurizio landed this 5′-6′ sandbar shark from the surf on 120th street using fresh bunker for bait.
I got a couple of shots from Bear down at the Oceanic Pier today of some nice fish. Brett caught a nice triggerfish from the north jetty sea wall on a sand flea and Anatoli caught this nice keeper striper from the route 50 bridge last night.
The Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe at the helm had some nice keeper flounder this morning and a beautiful triggerfish from the Thorofare that was over 3 pounds.
