It felt more like November out there today than it did late April thanks to overcast skies, strong winds off of the ocean and temps that barely got into the 50s. I had a couple of reports come in today, but it wasn’t from folks out there today….because there most likely weren’t any.
Last night before the nastiest weather came in, Morgan Mericle and his buddy Alex fished the Route 50 bridge with soft plastics and had a great time catching and releasing some very nice striped bass. Morgan had a good fish at 33″, but Alex had a fish that didn’t fit on their 40″ measuring board. The guys guessed it at 45″ conservatively.
The Frederick Saltwater Anglers had their spring flounder tournament this weekend and had a great turnout with 37 boats participating and over $9,800 in prize money up for grabs. I got a report from Rob Pellicot who fished with Neil Pellicot, Bob Pellicot and Daryl Thomas and got into some of that cash. The guys used Deadly Tackle Deadly Doubles and caught their limit of fish taking 3rd Place stringer of four fish with a total of 12.88 pounds and also taking 1st Place Heaviest Fish with a nice 5.69 pound flounder. Congratulations guys and thanks for the support!
