It was a hot one today buddy! Light winds this morning and sunny skies made it feel even hotter! It’s summer though so I’ll take it. Speaking of hot, the tuna fishing in the canyon right now is scorching! There are some bigeye tuna in the Poorman’s Canyon, but there are A LOT of bluefin tuna. Some boats are catching their limit of bluefins and releasing more than 30 additional bluefins on ballyhoo and spreader bars.
The Marli with Captain Mark Hoos and Mark Stephens out of Sunset Marina had an awesome day of tuna fishing in the Poor Man’s today. Captain Mark put his crew on four bigeye tuna and four bluefin tuna on ballyhoo and spreaders and also released another 20 bluefin. Big thanks to Dave Messick of Hooked on OC for the photo.
Captain Joe Drosey and the crew of Rhonda’s Osprey out of Sunset Marina had a good day with the tunas as well. Captain Joe put his crew on three bluefin tuna and one bigeye for the box and released another nine bluefin in the Poor Man’s.
Captain Chris Mizurak on the party boat Anlger reported tough sea bass fishing today, but he did see some bass come over the rail and a nice 4.5 pounds.
Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service fished the back bay today and got a couple of young anglers hooked for life when he put them on this keeper flounder on a Gulp bait.
