Insanely Good Wahoo Bite

Insanely Good Wahoo Bite

We had another really good weather day today, but tomorrow is gonna be a little different.  The forecast is calling for wind and rain to develop tomorrow and last into Sunday sometime so ocean fishing might be a little rough through the weekend into Monday.  Hopefully the weather holds off long enough for Harbor Day to be dry tomorrow.  Stop by and see us in the vendor tent between 10 AM and 3 PM and get the new Bend a Rod Back the Blue tee shirt!

The offshore fishing has been pretty stellar this week with swordfish, tuna and a crazy good wahoo bite going on.  Captain Chris on Talkin’ Trash has been slaying the wahoo with ten stud fish, tunas and tilefish over two trips.

Captain Willie Zimmerman of RoShamBo has been doing well too with two swordfish on one trip along with tuna and mahi.

Captain Bobby Layton and the crew of the Wrecker had a great day in the canyon today with four wahoo ending up in the fish box.

Caleb Powell, Bill Powell and Mike Shockley used Deadly Tackle Deadly Doubles to land three nice keeper flounder in the west channel today.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had a nice day on the water today that showed perseverance rewarded.

Took thirteen guys thirteen miles in thirteen knots of NE wind on Friday the thirteenth.
What could go wrong?
Shew.
Block drop went perfectly at least. Justin from OC had a bullseye on Pete Maugans’ Memorial Reef.
After that?
The struggle was real. At least from the wheelhouse vantage. What? A dozen stops? More?
But, clients following Rule #1 – Keeeeep Fishing! – and showing the dogged determinism found in Superman & John Wayne’s America at last brought us to a fairly decent result. Would have been fantastic if I hadn’t limited the whole boat the previous two days.. A third were limited with Vernon first by a long shot. Only one guy didn’t cross into double digits. (His initials? JMT! Whuuuut?)
Following a regular pattern, Justin used his reef builder’s karma to pocket the pool money..
A light NE wind sure makes the ocean beautiful ..but I’m ready for a return to calm tomorrow morning & next week.. Will post trips for next week for sure via email..
Tomorrow the ocean will be beautiful into mid-afternoon. Have a tiny handful of super regulars signed up.. Tons of room if you want to fish the calm before the storm.
Usually works!
Cheers,
Monty
The Always Bent fishing crew has been enjoying this fall’s fishing so far.  Up on the bridge it was a 26″ slot red drum and over on Assateauge it was some grey trout (weakfish) during the incoming tide.
