Leaderboard Shake Up on Day 3 of The 2026 MiAtlantic Tournament

Day 3 of the 2026 MidAtlantic Tournament is in the books and it was another busy day of scales action with some shake up on the leaderboard.  There was still no wahoo showing and there was no change to the tuna category, but we did see a blue marlin and a white marlin hit the board along with a new first place mahi.  Here’s who’s leading after three days of fishing.  Thanks to The MidAtlantic and Sunset Marina for the pics and info!

We had a very unusual catch weighed in at Rick’s Bait & Tackle in Millsboro, DE today when Rob Reinert brought in this 36.2 pound Cubera snapper!  The fish ate a finger mullet on ocean structure just five miles off the beach.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters has had some good success the last several trips with keeper flounder, sheepshead, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, spot, kingfish and croaker.

Anglers fishing on board the Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak enjoyed flat calm seas and a good bite for sea bass and flounder today.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star found some decent fishing on today’s trip to the mahi grounds.

Still, still, still.. That was the on scene ‘weather report’ this morning. A fine sunrise and the calmest of seas awaited us at the inlet. Didn’t stay that way but it sure was a great start to the day.
Kim & Brooke did the deed on today’s block unit. It landed right atop a flat decked barge we’d deployed as reef in memory of my dear friend, Jack Kaeufer. Just amazing how a hard flat substrate (here steel) broken up with more complexity (via blocks) surges with life.
Just another way of creating more coral, more fish.
Got the skunk off the rail first stop again today. Like it like that. Worked on em all day. Wasn’t fantastic. Still, Brandon was halfway to a limit before 10am. Like it like that too.
Just before 11 a nicer fish was caught – a mahi with strong pool winning potential
..but ya gotta play to win.
Ol’man Murphy (of Murphy’s Law & not at all of Cole’s Law) seems to make a special point to dish up a good fish whenever someone doesn’t play. Just the way it’s always been.
Later the breeze settled opposite current. Almost like being double anchored at times, we sat still. Caught a few but just looked at a bunch more – they got fussy!
Catch the hungry ones and the dumb ones, the rest live for another day.
Did find over a hundred bottlenose dolphin while heading in. Not playful, but weren’t spooked either – got a good look at em..
Not too windy, not too hot; was a wonderful day to be at sea.
Cheers,
Monty
