Limit of Bluefins

Limit of Bluefins

Today was the first day of scales for the 5th Annual HUK Big Fish Classic and I’m actually still at the scales, but I know nothing is going to hit the dock.  Only two boats fished the first window from 7 AM this morning until 3 PM tomorrow and they have both returned.  That leaves 65 boats to fish starting tomorrow at 7 AM until Sunday at 3 PM so Sunday’s scales will probably be insane.  Tournament officials are opening the scales at 3 PM Sunday in anticipation of a busy day.  Scales are open from 4 PM until 9 PM tomorrow.  I’ll see you there!

The bluefin tuna bite Inshore was crazy good today for the crew of Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Ayrton “The Kayak Kid” Pryor.  The crew boxed their limit of bluefin tuna today on trolled ballyhoo and plastics.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star got out to the rip today with a slightly different result…….Sea bass! What the stink.. Went to same area where we had some limits of fluke yesterday (& only 5 sea bass!) Today only caught two fluke all day —- yet Cbass were CHEWING!
The Sedaca boys of McLegg VA, Noah Fish of Harford Co MD, Sea Bass Queen Lisa Hanschlager of Dover, PA, Curtis Tems Of Baltimore, & Robert Wray of Hadford Co MD put a show on with some nice bass.

Flounder fishing in the back bay is TOUGH right now with filthy water conditions, but thankfully there are some croaker around that don’t need clean water to eat.  Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service says croaker have saved the week.

Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had a four hour wreck trip today where he put his anglers on 19 triggerfish, one spade fish and 8 bluefish.

Captain Marc Spagnola has been putting his shooters on some terrific action for cow nosed and southern rays lately and some of the southerns have been absolutely huge.

My good buddy David Wells is getting pretty good at the PicCollage stuff and pretty good at the catch and release bass fishing.  Today Dave made me another cute collage with a BIG bigmouth bass in it.  He said it was around eight pounds, but I’m guessing it was around three. 🙂

Blume’s Balloon Round Up saw a couple more balloons come in today and one was from our good friend Erik Windrow of Erik Windrow Real Estate.  That brings the summer total to 634 balloons off of the water.
