Kristen and I were setting up our scale for our first ever Flounder Royale at Bahia Marina this afternoon when we got word that Michael Jordan’s boat Catch 23 had boated a white marlin and was headed to the scale at Harbour Island for day 6 the White Marlin Open. A little while later we also heard that Catch 23 had qualified and taken over 2nd place in the white marlin category with a 71 pounder and that the greatest basketball player of all time even joined in the festivities and got in the photo. He met tournament directors, graced the crowd and jumped back on board to celebrate with his crew. It really was an awesome scene at Harbour Island that many will remember forever. Here are a couple of shots from Mayor Rick Meehan.

Here’s who’s leading the 52nd White Marlin Open with one day left to fish. Many thanks to the White Marlin Open for the pics!

Today was also day one for our first ever Flounder Royale Flounder Tournament and it was a surprisingly busy day of scales action. We had some folks brave the rough ocean and we had some great fish come to the scales. Here’s who’s leading after the first day of fishing.

Rich Daiker fished the route 50 bridge and caught his limit of flounder up to 22″ on live bunker.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing showed his clients some nice shooting for southern and cow nosed rays in the south bay.

Reed Graybill had a great time catching some croaker and some throwback flounder fishing with his dad Kevin this afternoon.

Mike Brockmeyer was fishing the east channel the other day when he caught and released this surprise 3′ hammerhead shark.
