Might Be the Best of the Year

Might Be the Best of the Year

There are very few days when the weather and the fishing are both good…even fewer days when the weather and fishing are great…..and maybe only a couple of days a year when the weather and fishing are insane.  Well today was another one of those days….and it looks like the weekend has more in store for us.  The forecast for the weekend is absolutely picture perfect for all outdoor activities especially fishing and although the number of boats I expect to be out in the canyons tomorrow and Sunday could push the fish down….tuna fishing offshore could be half as good as its been the past few days and still be incredible.  Tonight’s report is just going to be boats, some numbers and pictures.  Because after all…a picture is worth a thousand words.

David Foote caught and released his first white marlin and helped the crew of Fish On have a great day of tuna fishing while fishing out of Sunset Marina.  Dock photo by Dave Messick of Hooked on OC.

This is some pretty amazing offshore fishing going on right now so check our offshore charters at FishinOC.com/offshorecharterboats if you want to get on board.

Inshore fishing was good today as well in the beautiful conditions with loads of nice flounder being caught with some triggers and a couple of bluefish.  My buddy Big Bird Cropper had some fun at one of his favorite spots when he released 9 small rockfish and kept two keeper flounder and three bluefish.

Bear down at the Oceanic Pier sent me two photos today of some nice catches.  One was a nice 22″ sheepshead and the other was Howard with a nice triggerfish that he caught on a sand flea.

Shooters male and female, young and old have been having a great time with Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing.  Captain Marc has been shooting both day and night and having great luck with cow nosed and southern rays and the occasional big houndfish.
