I’m up at Frightland enjoying some beautiful weather and some scary attractions with family and friends and getting reports of some awesome fishing!
Walter Andrews used a live spot in the east channel to catch this doormat flounder that was his personal best at 25” and 7.8 pounds.
Captain Willie, Zimmerman of the RoShamBo had another great day in the canyon today putting two swordfish, and a limit of blue line tile fish in the boat.
Captain, Chris Mizurak on the Angler reported a slow start this morning, but fishing picked up nicely with plenty of Seabass and some flounder limits around the rail this afternoon.
Captain, Monty Hawkins on the Morning Star had a great day today for his clients, putting a boat limit of sea bass in coolers.
Bit of morning breeze had my concern as we tied her loose this morning. Found a small but persistent southerly swell that, thankfully, decreased as the day passed in a light WSW breeze.
Bob, a Rt 54 local, volunteered to do the deed with today’s twenty reef blocks. We sent them loose down to Kathy’s Reef, one of a great many reefs sponsored by Dick Arnold..
Day began with the current at full speed. Even as spread out as my clients are tangles kept Vic & Brian fairly busy – well, along with rigging and taking fish off.
As the current eased, the bite increased. It grew steadily better until we had a boat limit.
The pace & quality of sea bass, plus the absence of bluefish, allowed my blood pressure a nice break..
Two more nice days coming. No spots left. Sunday was looking great too.
Was.
We’ll see.
Cheers,
Monty
Steve Grauel and Tony had a nice catch of sea bass and keeper flounder today.
