There were only 129 boats fishing day three of the 45th Annual White Marlin Open, but we just returned from an exciting day at the scales. There were several fish weighed including some daily meat fish winners, a new first place wahoo that has a story of its own and a new first place tuna that is currently worth over $520,000. The coolest story of the night belongs to the first place wahoo from the Desperado. The captain of the Desperado along with his wife and newborn twins drove the wahoo up from Virginia Beach and made it back to the scales with under 10 minutes left before they closed at 9:15. When the wahoo was weighed it tipped the scale at 58 pounds, jumped into first place in the category and made for the feel good story of the night. Here’s what the rest of the leaderboard looks like after three days of fishing.

There are still an average of 275 fishing days left for both Thursday and Friday so anything can happen with that many boats out there. Make sure you check out our live coverage at www.whitemarlinopen.com starting at 3:30 both days.
Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters has been having some good fishing the past few days putting anglers on some fun catch and release shark fishing for sand tigers and sand bars. He also had a great day of bottom fishing today where he put his crew on a ton of triggerfish.

Captain Drew Zerbe of the Tortuga out of Bahia Marina found some clean water this afternoon and put some of his anglers on some keeper sized flounder.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing found some really nice souther rays for his shooters today while hunting the south bay.
