We had some crazy thick fog this afternoon over the ocean, but other than that it was another beautiful day. I had the chance to head out with Captain Nick Sampson on the WOP with my good buddy Bryan Mindte of Sunset Provisions and we had an awesome time filming a new episode of Hooked on OC. We had over 20 mahi, a couple of golden tilefish and a limit of blueline tilefish with the largest being a very nice 29.25″ fish that I caught on my Deadly Tackle ocean rod prototype. It was a great trip and should make for a fun new Hooked on OC.
Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin Tides Charters was deep dropping today and had a variety of really nice exotic fish. Anglers on board Chasin’ Tides had spiny cheek scorpion fish, black bellied rosefish and an absolute monster of a yellowedge grouper. The big fish weighed in at 38 pounds on the scale at Sunset Marina and is just 10 pounds shy of the all-tackle world record. Maryland Department of Natural Resources is probably going to create a state record category for yellowedge grouper for this fish thanks to its impressive size. Congrats to Chasin’ Tides for a rare and awesome catch!
Captain Will from Local Hooker Charters had a fantastic day of ocean fishing today with a limit of sea bass and three cobia. Two were released and his biggest fish was 47″.
Anglers fishing on board the Tortuga out of Bahia Marin had a nice day with the flounder today putting some keepers in the fish box on both trips.
