After some really crazy snowfall and then some brutally cold temperatures, Mother Nature loosened her grasp on the area a little today with more seasonable temperatures, partly sunny skies and some nice calm winds. We had over 11″ of snow fall during winter storm Helena on Saturday and then temperatures fell into the teens and single digits through yesterday. Schools were closed both Monday and Tuesday and there is a 2 hour delay in most school districts locally even tomorrow. Heavy snow on Saturday and then dangerous road conditions have had some people stir crazy so it was nice to get a fishing report today from Captain Monty Hawkins on the party boat Morning Star.
Captain Monty reported that it was absolutely flat calm out there today and they had some decent fishing. Robert Flynn had the pool fish of the day and the crew tagged and released several legal fish and some short fish as well. Thanks to fish pool winner Robert Flynn for some great shots from the trip.
Amanda Peterson and her husband James were on board today breaking in some new rods and had a great day at the rail with Captain Monty. James had a nice 20″ keeper sized tautog that was tagged and released and Amanda tagged and released five keeper sized female tog on white crabs. Thanks to Amanda for the great pics.
