I love to get a fishing report in February….any fishing report, especially a good one. This time of the year I’m attending trade shows and meeting people to talk about fishing in Ocean City and it really gets me wishing to get out on the water. My good buddy Eric Sexton did exactly that yesterday. Eric, Joey Zimmer and Benny Bennington took a trip out of Sharptown, MD yesterday and absolutely smoked the white and yellow perch. Eric and the boys started the day fishing the Nanticoke river south of Sharptown where they caught about 60 white perch on bloodworms keeping the larger fish. The crew then moved to Broad creek off of the Nanticoke and used live minnows to catch about 15 yellow perch, again only keeping the larger fish. Eric is currently in the process of a new marketing campaign to reference “The White Perch Capital of the World”. I’ll let you know how that pans out in the future.
I for one am glad to see some successful fishing being done close to home and hope that this is a sign of things to come in the very near future.
