OCMC Canyon Kick-Off Day 1 and the Kid with the Monster Flounder

Today was day 1 of the Ocean City Marlin Club Canyon Kick-Off.  59 boats entered the event and 48 boats fished today.  The offshore fishing was good and there were several fish brought to the scales at Sunset Marina this evening.  Here is the current leader board.

The Canyon Kick-Off will have weigh ins again tomorrow and Sunday from 5PM-7:30PM at Sunset Marina at the tournament scale in front of Sunset Grille so don’t miss it.

The offshore fishing for the Fish in OC fleet was good again today.  Some boats are fishing the canyons looking for Billfish, Bigeye, Yellowfin and Dolphin and other boats are fishing the inshore lumps for Bluefin, Yellowfin and Dolphin.  Fishing is good.

Captain Jeremy Blunt and Mate Brian Behe fishing out of the Ocean City Fishing Center had a great day of fishing today putting their charter on two White Marlin releases, two Bluefin tuna and some Dolphin.

Captain Brian Porter and Mate Mike Runk on board the Boss Hogg fishing out of Sunset Marina had another stellar day trolling and deep dropping offshore at the Rockpile in 71 degree water.  The Boss Hogg had one Bluefin, 37 Dolphin, 56 Tilefish and 40 Sea Bass!

Captain Joe Drosey on board Rhonda’s Osprey out of Sunset Marina gave the Wahoo a break today and focused his attention inshore on the Hambone.  Captain Joe put his crew on a couple of nice Dolphin, one small Bluefin and one Bluefin that tipped out at 104 pounds.

Inshore fishing was still terrific for Flounder!  Captain John Prather reports several throwbacks and loads of keepers on all of today’s trips

….but no one had a Flounder like young Lucas Franzetti!

Lucas’s dad Juan and a couple of other’s were diving on the Bass Grounds and Lucas decided to stay topside and kill some time fishing.  Lucas threw some squid on his rig, dropped it down and thump…thump….thump….BOOOM!  Lucas pulls up this 30″ Flounder!  Way to go buddy!!
