It was a way better weather today as the wind subsided and we had sunny skies and nice July temperatures. You can definitely tell that we are in the midst of a summer holiday weekend as the bay was super crowded and there isn’t much bread or milk left in the Food Lion. I don’t see the crowd’s going anywhere anytime soon either because the weather forecast both inshore and offshore for the next few days looks exceptional.
Today was the final day of the Ocean City Marlin Club’s 35th Annual Canyon Kick Off Tournament with scales action at Sunset Marina. 64 boats entered this year’s event and there was some good fishing. Here are the results with moolah distribution.
Yesterday the Boss Hogg with Captain Brian Porter had a good day of offshore fishing. Margie Berger, Nick Richardson, Chris Davis, Claire Davis, Howard Berger, Rick Wall, Krishna Wall and Welwyn Richardson put one bluefin, six yellowfin and two gaffer mahi in the box.
Anglers on the My Cin with Captain Dave Black landed a really nice 109 pound bluefin and two yellowfin tuna trolling north of the Hot Dog and were back to the dock by 1 PM.
Captain Joe Drosey on Rhonda’s Osprey put his party on three nice yellowfin tuna on today’s trip.
Bottom fishing on ocean structure was pretty good for the ocean party boat fleet today. Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had mostly sea bass on board today along with one nice keeper flounder and five throwbacks. Tyler Siple and Don Proctor were told, “do not smile!” Tyler almost blew it!
Captain Monty also reported there were “MORE SOUND IMPACTS AT THE QUEEN” today. He writes about it in his fish report here……Morning Star Fish Report
Captain Chris Mizurak on the party boat Angler reported better fishing today as well. Captain Chris put his anglers on some nice sea bass and a couple of keeper flounder. This sea bass was 3.25 pounds.
Back in the bay Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing was out for a sunset cruise and it quickly turned into a double header flounder for his fiancé Karen Kelley.
I got this Facebook submission from Tim Bunting who had some great luck flounder fishing with the kids. Tim put his crew of Flounder Magnet on three nice keepers including these fish of 17.5″ and 20.5″.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing has been busy putting customers on some great shooting lately. Last night it was cow nosed rays and hound fish.
Today it was more cow nosed rays and a couple of southern rays including huge 105 pounder.
