OCMC Labor Day White Marlin Tournament Results

Now that we are into September a lot of us are hoping that the heat and humidity will start to subside soon, but right now Mother Nature has got other plans.  This week looks to be very warm with high humidity, but thankfully the wind doesn’t look to be much of an issue.  After next weekend we start to see some temps in the low 80s and then hopefully the weather will be a little cooler without the sauna turned way up.

The 60th Annual Ocean City Marlin Club Labor Day White Marlin Tournament is in the books and it was another great event by the club with good fishing this weekend.  There was a good white marlin bite, especially in the Poor Man’s Canyon, and there were some good meat fish caught including a big 150.2 pound bigeye captured by the crew of Pumpin’ Hard.  Thanks to Amanda Shick for keeping us up to date….here are your winners.

Six year old Christian Bohlen caught and released his first ever white marlin today while fishing with his dad Shawn on board the JEB in 70 fathoms of the Poor Man’s Canyon.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star reported that fishing was a little slower today, but he was still able to put his crew on a bunch of fish for dinner.   Greg Galgis of Butler, NJ took the pool with a 21.5 inch fluke.  Also pictured are Mike Tat of Elmwood, NJ – Tom Bererbach of Frankford, DE – Ryan Hashim & Dustin Short both of Baltimore, MD – Bob Collins of Doylestown, PA & Ari Gross of Ambler, PA.  Captain Monty has openings for tomorrow’s long trip and there is still time to get on board.  410-520-2076 hits the reservation line.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported a good mix of fish coming over the rail today including flounder, sea bass and mahi.  Captain Chris had some nice flounder end up in coolers on today’s trip.  He also reported that this week is light along the rail.  Don’t miss out on some of the best fishing of the year with some of the lightest crowds.

Karen Coats of Pitboss Fishing took advantage of the Pitboss Captain Jeff Coats being out of town and took the Bad Influence out for some fishing on her own.  Karen and her son Jake were able to get on some nice triggerfish up to 4 pounds.

Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters was able to put this lucky angler on a pair of keeper flounder on a trip this morning.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing has had a busy holiday weekend on the waterways.  Captain Marc has had great luck at night on both the river and the bay.  Last night and today it was some nice hunting where his shooters got on some southern and cow nosed rays and one tough to hit houndfish.
